Who we are
REwildSCAPE is a boutique landscape design atelier dedicated to crafting luxurious, timeless verdant retreats for aesthetically attuned patrons. Our ethos is rooted in deep ecological knowledge, artisanal craftsmanship, and a reverence for natural heritage. We specialize in creating poetic landscapes that seamlessly blend sophistication with the enduring beauty of nature.
Our co-founder, Ioan Ștețca, brings a profound understanding of forests and plant communities, holding degrees in Forestry engineering from Transylvania University and Ecology from the University of Bucharest. He has post-graduate studies in Primeval Beech Forests at Wageningen University and he is also an ISA-certified arborist, ensuring that our designs are both scientifically informed and environmentally sensitive.
Ioan Ștețca hails from the storied region of Maramureș, northern Transylvania and is a proud descendant of the Ștețca family—a lineage of free and industrious landowners with roots tracing back to the 13th century. The family's enduring presence is documented in a 1391 manuscript discovered in the attic of the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin in Ieud, one of Maramureș's renowned wooden churches and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Further enriching this heritage, Ioan's paternal grandparents rest in the Merry Cemetery (UNESCO site) of Săpânța, celebrated for its vividly painted wooden crosses adorned with poetic epitaphs that humorously and candidly narrate the lives of the departed. This unique cemetery stands as a testament to the region's vibrant cultural identity and its distinctive approach to commemorating life.
Leading our atelier is Ruxandra Ștețca, a multidisciplinary executive with over 20 years of international experience spanning entrepreneurship, cultural design, and finance. Her strong financial foundation (ACCA, former roles at Ernst & Young and UniCredit Bank) is complemented by a refined sensibility in art history and luxury strategy. As an EMBA candidate at London Business School, she brings a strategic vision that aligns with our commitment to excellence and innovation.
Ruxandra Ștețca (née Tulban) draws her paternal lineage from Avrig, the cherished summer residence of Baron Samuel von Brukenthal, renowned for its exquisite Baroque gardens. Family lore suggests that her great-great-grandparents were tulip bulb merchants, possibly linked to the tulip trade during the Dutch Golden Age. This connection may explain the origin of the surname "Tulban," reflecting a legacy intertwined with horticultural commerce and European cultural exchange.
On her maternal side, Ruxandra descends from the ”mocanii săceleni”, a distinguished community of shepherds and merchants from Săcele, near Brașov. Known for their extensive transhumance routes, these pastoralists journeyed as far as Crimea, trading wool and dairy products. Their entrepreneurial spirit extended to markets as distant as Vienna, where they supplied high-quality dairy goods, contributing to the region's rich cultural and economic tapestry.
At REwildSCAPE, we believe that true luxury lies in the harmony between human creativity and the natural world. Our mission is to design landscapes that are not only visually stunning but also resonate with the timeless elegance of nature.
