Ioan's Romanian Heritage
Maramureș Roots
Ioan Ștețca originates from Maramureș, northern Transylvania, Romania, and descends from the historic Ștețca family—landowners with documented roots dating to the 13th century. The family's presence is recorded in a 1391 manuscript found in the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin in Ieud, one of Maramureș's UNESCO World Heritage wooden churches.
This deep Romanian heritage is further reflected through Ioan's connection to Săpânța's famous Merry Cemetery (UNESCO World Heritage site), where his paternal grandparents rest among the celebrated hand-carved wooden crosses with their distinctive poetic epitaphs celebrating life and death in traditional Romanian folk style.

Business Director & Strategy Lead
Leading our landscape design studio is Ruxandra Ștețca, bringing over 20 years of international business experience in entrepreneurship, cultural projects, and finance. Her solid financial background (ACCA qualification, Ernst & Young, UniCredit Bank Romania) combines with expertise in art history and luxury brand strategy. Currently pursuing an EMBA at London Business School, Ruxandra provides strategic leadership aligned with our commitment to design excellence and sustainable innovation.
Ruxandra's Horticultural Heritage
From Avrig to Săcele
Ruxandra Ștețca (née Tulban) traces her paternal lineage to Avrig, Sibiu County, Romania—the historic summer residence of Baron Samuel von Brukenthal, famous for its Baroque garden design. Family history suggests her great-great-grandparents were tulip bulb merchants, potentially connected to the European tulip trade during the Dutch Golden Age, which may explain the surname "Tulban" and its horticultural commerce origins.
Her maternal ancestry connects to the mocanii săceleni, the renowned shepherd-merchants of Săcele near Brașov, Romania. These entrepreneurial pastoralists conducted extensive transhumance routes reaching Crimea, trading wool and dairy products across European markets including Vienna, contributing significantly to Romania's historical trade networks and cultural exchange.
