The Oteteleșanu Mansion Historic Garden

On the banks of the Argeș River, the historic garden of the Oteteleșanu Mansion in Grădinari, Ilfov — a listed historic monument the code GR-II-m-B-15006, aptly named “Casa Mare cu Parc” (the Main House with Park) — is being carefully revived by REwildSCAPE for Băcănia Veche - a patron of authentic craft, sustainability, and culture, together with a t e l i e r   g o v o r a | architecture office. 

Through a sensitive integration of planting design, arboriculture, and ecological savoir faire, the project restores the garden’s historical layers while nurturing a living, resilient ecosystem.

Extensive arboricultural works have been undertaken to preserve mature trees and safeguard the site’s biological heritage.

The landscape is envisioned as a family of gardens, connected by gentle pathways and spaces for rest, gathering, and discovery — all harmoniously embedded within the existing vegetation. Designing the planting composition by hand has been a true joy, immersing us in the scents and blooms of lavender, rosemary, perovskia, verbena, hydrangea, and countless other treasures.

More than a restoration, it is a discovery voyage: a dialogue between past and present, where wildlife, poetry, and wellbeing converge. The result is a living heritage landscape, open to the community, where history and nature thrive together in quiet balance.

The project for phase 1 is now completed, and planting will begin in spring 2026, marking the next phase in the garden’s revival.
