Mediterraneo - Barcelona

The landscape taking shape south of Barcelona translates Mediterranean genius loci into a contemporary language of living. Its design follows ecological succession itself — from scrubland to maquis to mature holm oak forest — with existing Aleppo and stone pines retained as the structural backbone for decades of growth still to come.

Spatially, the garden unfolds as a sequence of “green salons,” each tuned to a different sense: fragrant arrival through rosemary and cistus, contemplation framed toward the sea, shelter for gathering, and clearings where vegetation itself becomes the frame for art. Sustainability is not applied afterward but built in from the start — native planting means lower water needs, real ecological corridors to the neighboring forest, and a permaculture logic of restraint.

The result is a landscape that is both working ecological infrastructure and a living work of art — rooted in Catalan horticultural heritage, shaped for contemporary life, and left as an authentic inheritance for the generations who will live in the forest it becomes.
